Guru Saakshaat Parabrahm

[caption id="attachment_69" align="aligncenter" width="225"] || Let your Guru be your Guiding Principle ||[/caption]

Hi AD,
My guru is sadhguru Jaggi vasudev. My Guru said that the Year 2012 is going to be very condusive for spiritual growth.
Not Only sadhguru many others also told. And some of them said that many people will be enlightened whose consciousness is high and may people will perish whose consciousness is low. I want to know ur perspective on this perishing and mass awakening Business. Is it true that many people will get enlightened and what can i do to get my share for sure(:P).
Thank you sir.                    - Mahendhar

Beloved Mahendhar,

If your Guru (JV) says - it is so (for you), I don't see any reason to doubt it. If he is saying so, he must be saying so with a motive even if that happening is not sure. Not sure what prompts you to seek approval or reconfirmation from anyone else on His statement.

Without getting in to the debate of whether 2012 will be an year of reward (although half of that is already almost getting over and not much change has been around!) and punishment, let me try answering your second part of question. To get one's share of divine love and light (this year or in years to come) a spiritual seeker,

- Must get aligned to a Guru or Master and
- Should sincerely practice as suggested by Master
- Have complete faith in his Master's words

It is alright to have discussions in real and virtual world on topics which concern/bother you but never to cross-check or obtain second opinion on your Guru's words. If you call someone Guru then treat him like a Guru or else you can always drop your Guru and move on. There is nothing wrong in moving on but before you do so, ensure by virtue of introspection and self-evaluation that you did everything what your Master suggested, gave your 100% to his methods for sufficiently long periods of time. Patience is important. All great sages have praised patience and faith above all. Sai of Shirdi gave so much importance to these two qualities that every temple dedicated to His holiness flashes these two words right at the entrance.

People feel Gurus and Masters want this blind faith for themselves - that is not true. Unless a disciple is able to rest his complete faith in his guru, he remains doubtful and thus slackness creeps in in his attitude. And halfhearted efforts or doubtful attitude is never congenial for spiritual transformation.

If water boils at 100 degree Celsius it requires 100 degree only. Keep the water at 99 degrees forever but it will not never boil. Similarly your attitude should have 100% faith and devotion towards the words of your Guru.. Methods given to you may not be working. The same would have worked for others but it is not working for you.. don't give up. Just state your problems with your Guru - He shall fine-tune the practices if needed. It happens sometime - Guru's become over-enthusiastic about one particular (now a days it is mostly patented one for commercial reasons) technique. They hope (rightly so because if method worked for maximum number of people who came to him he becomes mass-communicator) that their patented method will work in all cases. Gurus may also sometimes get wrong. - but if he is really concerned he will make you reach a stage where he can give following farewell instruction as below -

सत्यम्  वद् धर्मम्  चर् स्वाध्यायान्मा  प्रमदः।
आचार्याया  प्रियम्  धनमाःरुत्य  प्रजातन्तुं  मा  व्यवच्चहेत्सिहि ॥

A book written by Shri GS Sharma on Sukhmani Sahib

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Collection of wisdom from Sukhmani Sahib Sukhmani Sahib : Reflections by Shri GS Sharma[/caption]

(Sukhmani Sahib - Released by Acharya Sri Agyaatdarshan)Beloved Soul,

In our daily prayers we all hail our mortal Guru as the embodiment of the divine guiding light from the highest source however only those who rise up the rungs of spiritual ladder realize how true is this. They experience that the "Akshar Braham" and Anaadi Sadguru are those eternal ones who are always concerned with our growth and full of compassion for us and work through our Mortal Guru. This Nitya Anadi Sadguru or Param Guru has been referred to as "Wahe Guru" in  the highly revered spiritual text Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Sukhmani Sahib, the section of Sri Guru Granth Sahib which contains 24 Asatpadis begins the need of Meditation and fixing your consciousness upon Him (Brahman) and then further engages in praise of His divine attributes.

Sukhmani Sahib are the words of a Master, the deeper meanings of which are revealed by the divine grace of Waheguru only to those true seekers who constantly meditate and contemplate upon Him, the Brahman. Our Beloved Master Acharya Agyaatdarshan sees such a true seeker in Shri. GS Sharma who has complied his deeper understanding in his recent book "Sukhmani Sahib".

Shri GS Sharma, the able writer of this book 'Sukhmani Sahib' who is very closely associated with our beloved Master AD has humbly expressed his desire to have this book released on this blog. With the permission of Master AD I am pleased to announce the formal release of this book here.

This book Sukhmani Sahib is a 200 paged book in Hindi language and it goes without saying that it is a casket full of glittering percious gems spiritual insights derived from the verses of original text in Gurumukhi. Master AD recommends it to one and all especially those who are sincerely engaged in self-exploration and trying to find the common thread across different religions of our times.

Those who are interested in getting a copy of this book can directly write to the author on sharmagss99@rediffmail.com or get in touch on +91 9999000097.

Happy reading & may Waheguru bless you all,

I 'sport' Anna Hazare!

[caption id="attachment_135" align="alignleft" width="477" caption="||Revolution.. Kraanti may demand this too.. Ready?||"][/caption]

Guru ji, What is your view on 'Fast unto death' of Anna Hazare against corruption?  Shall we support him?

- Amit

Beloved Amit, Let me declare first that I am against all sort of corruption.. not only the one which concerns money but dead against each single behaviour which originates from corrupt mind..

You should know that whenever we lose our spontenity and plan the expression of our hurt and negative emotions that is nothing but corruption to the core... Stay silent when it is happening and start crying and yelling when its alreadt over.  Such a behaviour originates from a greedy and fearful mind.

People would happily pay bribe to the clerk for getting their House-Tax saved and very next day support the cause "India against corruption" on facebook! They would silently watch a goon teasing a girl on the road and enjoy it too, next moment the same person shall forward an SMS on women-empowerment, Crime free society and so on....

But what else do you expect in the world's biggest democracy called India where there is no political willingness to change the century old education-system.. the one which was given by British government.  We are seeing such state of this country today because of one prime reason - It is because of the way we educate our children and you are expecting a positive change in this education system by giving the task of transformation to a cunning and mentally bankrupt lawyer-cum-politician?

I read somewhere..

"We got FREE on 15th August' 1947 - Since then we are doing what we wish"

This sentence is correct depiction of our FREEDOM!

The fear and greed - are two brothers which live by each other. If you conduct yourself out of greed you are bound to cross the boundaries of law and the you will either like to stay in fear or you will (if you have power or strength to do so.. which politicians, Government officials, Police and crominals) create fear of yours around.

Anna is fasting.. Fasting is constitutionally allowed form of peaceful-suicide. But what else than killing himself he can do? For that matter what else any other citizen of India can do to deal with these serpents in the political circle? They will bite you the moment you open your mouth... they shall inject their venom in and watch you die with a smile on their faces.

You knew that you are not safe in your home, in the streets. But now you should have known that they can kill you even in Jail. The safety in police custody is a myth for you but reality for Kasabs, Afzals, Shakeels, Rajas, Kanimozhis and Kalmadis. The greater is the level of your corruption and crime, the higher is your political reach safer you are everywhere.. even on the roads. Who are you to demand safety? I know you are a sane, God fearing person.. aren't you? Take my advice.. God won't come down to interfere in your life.. and protect you, in fact he has never come so far in last few million years. God has no role to play in these worldly affairs and your suicidal decisions so its better to be Police-Fearing, Neta-fearing person instead.

I am telling you Amit, this place is not safe to raise your voice against the way country is being run... Anna has decided to remain without 'anna' (food) unto death. You must notice.. he has already made a choice.. Either Jan-Lokpal Bill or death.. he is 74 now already he can afford to die, can you? You can NOT support Anna..

Have you still not learnt your lessons right? Ramdev wanted country's money to be declared as national asset.. And enthusiasts like you sat beside him, surrounded him in the Ramleela Ground to support this noble cause. I am not sure if you saw those clippings of Rawan-leela in the Ramleela ground in which Policemen were shown brutally jumping on already half-dead (by their tear-gas bombings) bodies of fallen people. This happened because they supported the cause..  if you did not see those scenes.. first watch them on youtube or somewhere then only make up your mind for suicide.  Above all why do you want to be spotted by police and politicians.. while rest of 100+ crores of people in this coutry are silent. You can also just wait and watch!

Had your house been on fire you wouldn't have waited to get the answer from me on the issue. You would surely run and throw some water at the root, call fire-brigade, yell for help.. right? I understand this question "Should we support?" comes from a confused, half-realized buddhist monk who wishes to renounce the world of action and conflict and walk the "Golden Middle path". I respect your intentions and choice thus my advice to you and all those who are still thinking of taking some action in this regard is that..

Forget supporting Anna Hazare but don't worry still there is a lot you can do about it. You all can "Sport" Anna on your facebook, in your SMSes.. in your mail forwards, T-shirts etc. You can switch off lights when asked for (keeping AC and TV on..after all this is not Earthday call!), light some candles at some national monument and wait patiently for blind and deaf government (consisting of all corrupt to the core politicians) to take note of it and smile at your helplessness and choicelessness till next general elections. Yes! one more thing.. Don't forget to shout a few anti-corruption slogans daily while in bathroom.. it will pep up your nationalistic spirit.

Is Kapalbhati killing you?

[caption id="attachment_372" align="alignleft" width="150"] |The dawn approaching||[/caption]

Divine Salutations to all Friends!

When our beloved Master AD first used such a line as "Pranayama is Killing you - Vedic Yog Rahasya"  almost two years back,  people frowned.. hate-mails and strong objections stromed in. Some people even told him to shut up!

With more articles on Yoga and Pranayama from Master AD,  people gradually started opening up and even shared their issues publically albeit in our classroom sessions we always had people telling the true stories of sufferring due to wrong practices of Pranayama and other fast breathing exercises.

It is only after Yoga legend, BKS Iyengar spoke openly against the commercialization and corrputing the real Yoga, people are now trying to find out the authenticity of that very Yoga they embraced like their own lost child, years back. Our beloved Master  is satisfied.. for the results matter not the person or medium. Its is realy solace for his own Yoga Mentor Sri Balenduji Giri Maharaj who was fighting the lone battle against wrong practices of Yoga being propagated through TV.. hardly any government officials or ministers bothered to listen to him. Only recently when they saw Baba Ramdev as a threat many politicians were keen to see him.

So, if you find someone playing with breath do ask him/her where from he/she learnt it.. Ask a minute from them. Tell them they must review their decision of continuing with pranayama. Ask them to have a look at what Gayatri Jayaraman says in The LiveMint.com & The Wall Street Journal..

She asks the TV Yoga Fanatics & Live air-pumping machines -  "Is Kapalbhati Killing you?"

Happy reading.. Happy breathing!

India News voices AD's views on Pranayama!!

Beloved Souls,

Today's post would be particularly enchanting for our Hindi readers. I am posting an article of our beloved Acharya ji that was recently published (4th to 10th June) in one of the most widely distributed weekly publication, "India News". India News acknowledged the fact that in the scenario where there are yoga gurus budding as mushrooms all over the world, there is a need to guide yoga lovers and disciples towards the Vedic tradition of yoga, as Vedas are the root of yoga. The article was written by Acharyaji in view of many mails received asking for more information on Nadi-shodhan, particularly concerning its correct method. We are thankful to India News and its responsible editors in supporting us to spread the word.

Needless to say that correctly attempted Pranayama is highly beneficial in helping a person to maintain balance and poise on all levels that is physical, mental and spiritual. Acharya ji has always emphasize to complete Nadi Shodhan before trying any other Pranayama technique. The article gives a glimpse about the vedic method of Nadi-shodhan. Although it is still advised to the readers to learn the method directly from a Master in person.
If you think this information can be of help to others use the share option below.. who knows someone somewhere is getting victim of TV Yoga! To enlarge the image double click on it.

Namaste!

Japan in Tsunami - Holi in the India!

[caption id="attachment_51" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="|Your Brothers lived here|"][/caption]

Beloved Friends and Disciples,

I deliberately restrained myself from making my views public ahead of festival to be able to see how amid this festivity this so called spiritually evolved nation and its people who take pride in quoting  "Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam"  would like to express their empathy with their fellow family members who are grief-struken and devastated first due to a horrifying natural calamity and then followed by a technological disaster, probably one the severest so far but..

Don't you seem to be untouched.. totally unaffected as if nothing has happened? But thats not true.. it definitely excited you. You exclaimed to your friends and family members upon seeing the gigantic waves of Tsunami swaying away cars, ships, aeroplanes and whatever came their way. You were definitely not unaware of what was happening out there but what happened to you and why did you lose your sensitivity altogether? Seems you have already attained the 'Nirvana' and completely resting in the understanding on "Na hanyate hanyamane Shreere"... I know that is not true but..

There is always a difference between a "Siddha" and a "Saadhaka". For Siddhas everything, including their own death is nothing but a divine dance of elements. They are free from bondage of mind and body.. resting in blissful company of their real being. For them the indifference is always impregnated with a deeper empathy and unconditional love. In contrast to "Siddha" a Sadhkaha is someone who is still trying to discipline himself, inculcating values, trying to create love for all, searching for his/her own real identity.. real face. During this journey he is supposed to behave as humans.. rather he does so compulsarily because he is still not free. He would feel good, elated and ecstatic on receiving something good and would feel devasted, insulted, defeated, frustrated and angered when he is faced with unpleasant scenario. All the indifference and so called ditachment displayed during the "sadhaka" phase is made up or at best imposed discipline and that is why a Sadhaka seems to be choosy in his responses, although not so if you scrutinize it further. You would see he/she is still behaving like a slave to his/her attachments and desires. It is so because unlike "Siddha" there are still multiple reactions and streams flowing in his/her psyche. The mind is not yet stabilized.. the heart is not yet open and flowered, the being is not yet bloomed with enlightenment or the "highest realization" so there are choices innumerable.. confusion abound and dilemma ad infinitum. So I know all those who decided to stay quiet and practice silence without giving slightest of attention to the agony of their fellow co-passangers living a bit eastward on this planet are guilty of not exercising correct choice at this moment. There is no excuse for not empathizing and praying for those in distress, for the ones who are anyways seeking the path of universality... the so called spirituality.

Even for normal social animals in the name of humans, who deliver lenghthy speeches explaining how our national boundaries are dissolving, how our economy is so much interwoven and how we are in so much love for each others (money?) and how our hearts coming near using the technology (Twitter and facebook...) and thus creating a virtual global village. It seems it will always remain virtual village only for in the face of cruel reality I did not see much of love, compassion, prayers and empathy being emnated from these so called elite and intelligent. What excuse they have to explain why they did not respond to this moment through their techno-IT-enabled hearts? None.. I presume! however you can prove me wrong if you wish.

Not much time has elapsed as yet.. 11-3-11 is still not buried in the debris of past for Japanese are still struggling individually and as a nation with the by gone disaster.. and any real spiritual seeker or Guru would not leave them to their collective racial fate but send out prayers, healing and moral support through their compassionate words and gestures. Do pray for them and tell them you understand how much it hurts when....

Is there a way to stop expecting?

Below is a chat session between Manjulata and AD. Manju is an experienced teacher of English language at a reputed school in Bhopal, M.P., India. She has been associated with AD on a Child education project while she was in Delhi and since then she is closely following AD's activities in the cyber world and elsewhere too..

ML: AD think u r good at that..You can make a person reach the resolution.. one question bothers me.. How can we do away with expectations as it leads u to bitterness.

AD: expecting is human.. why not to expect? :-)

MD:  but You land up nowhere with it.

AD: wherever we are today.. is it 'nowhere'?

MD: I mean in ur relations.

AD: See.. all we expect in relations is love, understanding and care.. but unfortunately these are the things which can only be given and received.. These are like rain, sun and wind.. which come to us because existence loves us.. we do not have any right on these.. Similarly love, understanding and care can not be expected.. it depends whether other person is capable of giving it or not. If he/she is empty, skewed, already void of these you can just let go. These things can only be given..

MD:  hmm there u r..but when u give u expect.

AD: Have you ever thought what exactly you give..?

MD:  whatever u do for others u care for others and that sort of things..

AD: Correct. Lets first disect this 'doing or giving'. In fact 'doing or giving'  is either your action, your caring speech, your body or your tender thoughts.. nothing beyond is possible. If you include money in this list then I would suggest you better open a credit and thrift society with laid down rules and take 5 sureties before you give your money to someone.

MD: :-)

AD: Further you would notice that While you do something.. which gives YOU joy you can be sure that it is doable.. The simple fact is when you are giving or doing a thing which gives you JOY, the feeling of 'i am 'doing it for him/her' is not possible. Right? Your joy is the motive here.. so this can not counted in 'doing or giving'..

ML: hmm..

AD: Lets evaluate mental action.. When you naturally think 'soft and good' about someone those thoughts and care that can also not be taken as 'doing something for someone' because it is something which is giving you happiness. In fact more good you thing of others more happy you feel.. and if you aren't feeling this way you are not doing it right.

MD: But sometimes u need the same when u feel low or little disturbed. Isn't it?

AD: I will come to that later..

Now about your body - When you give your body volunteerily.. 'it is naturally pleasurable process in which you always 'receive pleasure'.. in this case also there is no possiblity to think that you gave something to other.. or did something for someone because it gave equal amount of happiness, joy and pleassure to you too.

We have ruled out two options (Thought and Body) where we could have felt the sense of 'giving'... Still there is no dispute on your experience that there are actions on which you feel like 'i am doing it for others'. Well..  Lets see why and when.

If we look from a broader perspective.. whatever we tend to do for others.. fall in two categories.

1. we are doing something which is giving me instant gratification and pleasure, happiness.
2. where we are giving, doing sometihing now.. projecting happiness, joy, return in future..

MD: hmm

AD: If we refrain from step 2. the problem is solved..:) Simple.. isn't it?

MD: Not so easy.

AD: I know.. So before you do something.. evaluate it.. Think if it gives YOU joy or not. If it does not.. you can choose to stay unmoved. But if you, out of fear of losing a person... or something of that sort engage in any activity which is painful... you will definitely expect returns.

I know it is not as simple as I told you.. but having two pronged approach in practical life is necessary.. 1. Start moving from selective goodwill to omnipresent good will..
2. Learn to be fearless and wise.
MD: Some times we do things because of fear of losing the person or the relation. Then what?
AD:  Thats a situation where your fearlessness will come handy. Also if you start expanding your consiousness you will naturally help someone rather than out of fear.
MD: I want to correct u,we don't expect something very great,May be aliitle attention or acknoledgement.
AD: :-) Thanks for correction. A small tiny hair in the eye is really not a very big thing.. but gives really too much pain and irritation. Those little expectations hurt us where we are most tender.. 'our emotional expectancy center'.
You are right.. very little are our expectations.. but then when they fall in our eyes.. we cant rest or be at ease.
MD: hmm,so what do we do? It disturbs u for along time. We can't get away with it?

AD: Another way to look at it is.. we are expecting great troubles through our little expectations. Isn't it?
MD: yes I agree

AD: Will it be wise to expect then?

MD: No but it remains there

AD: The art of being at ease is about being wise. Nothing else.

And if that pain or hurt doesn't go and we feel that we are struggling to not think and act that way despite knowing the fact that it hurts to expect.. Shouldn't we accept that we are really stupid.. unable to see merit in a particular way of action.

And mind you the moment you think and declare (if mentally it doesn't help... i suggest do it vocally with a smile on face) that 'it will be idiotic to expect' you would see this pattern is gradually vanishing. Affirmations are needed here to break the pattern and remind yourself.. Teach yourself that you need to be wise and thus not do or wish a thing which can be painful. You have all the rights to keep yourself happy and if you decide to that.. you will be at ease for sure.

It works.. because no one including the most idiot person under the sun wouldn;t want to declare it every day to him/herself that she/he is an idiot.

MD: :) hmmm

MD: but.. For me I know it already I'm a fool and i'm so cosidered by others :)

AD: But I know you are wise.. just unveil yourself.

MD: hahaha

AD: People say discover yourself.. I have a lighter word.. just 'uncover' yourself.

MD: I've discovered and uncovered myself thats why I made that comment about myself

AD: If you really made that comment.. it is time to decide if you want to stay like that or change?
MD: I want to change ofcourse

AD: There are people for whom challenging Affirmations work.. on mental declaration like 'I am stupid if I expect' they feel like fighting out the pattern and winning over it. For some the challenging or negatively loaded affirmations/self-reminders dont work.. they need something like "I am wisel.. why will I expect and feel pained. I know people dont come up to expectations and so it is not good for a wise person like me to think differently."
Just see which one works for you...

MD: ok

AD: And also.. You should try stop working out of  'fear of losing'..

MD: hmmm
AD: These two jointly can uncover you completely and uncover you and expose the wiser woman in you..
MD: sounds good :)

AD: Then practice it.. and let me know how it sounds when it is hit against the wall of your behaviour pattern.. metallic or a thud :-)

MD: sure.. Thank you so much.
